Impeachment resolution against Gretchen Whitmer

On November 18, 2020, three Republican Party members of the Michigan House of Representatives introduced House Resolution No. 324 to impeach Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer over her response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Michigan.
Background
On November 15, Governor Whitmer announced new COVID-19 restrictions that went into effect on Wednesday, November 18. The restrictions included restaurants and bars to close dinning rooms, high schools and colleges must go virtual, and indoor gatherings must be limited to two households or ten people through December 8, 2020.
After the new restrictions were announced, State Representative Matt Maddock and a group of nine other Republican representatives began an effort to start impeachment hearings for Governor Gretchen Whitmer over her conduct in handling the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
The resolution
On November 18, State Representatives Beau LaFave, Matt Maddock, and Daire Rendon presented Michigan House Resolution NO.324, which listed four articles of impeachment against Governor Whitmer. The resolution was "dead on arrival", as the legislature had been adjourned and not expected to take action in a lame-duck session.
A Change.org petition was created after the introduction of the resolution, calling for Whitmer's impeachment over her response to the COVID-19 pandemic and her conflicts with President Donald Trump. As of November 22, it has gained over 7,100 signatures.
