imo.im is a free web-based service that allows users to hold text, voice, and video chats on multiple instant messaging protocols. The company is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and was co-founded by Georges Harik (co-developer of Google's Adsense Technology), Ralph Harik, and Praveen Krishnamurthy in 2007.
imo.im launched an alpha version in April of 2007 with support for AIM, ICQ, MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo Chat, and MySpace networks. Video Chat support was added not long after in October 2007. In August 2008, the company added Skype and Voice chat support to its web based instant messaging client.
The service is still in its early stages of development and is continually adding new features such as, "Favorite Buddies," "Linked Accounts," and "Buddy Aliases."
