Introduction
Dr. (Iyke) Ikechukwu Odikpo is a Nigerian Medical Doctor, entrepreneur and politician. He was born on the 26th day of April 1963 in Uromi, Delta State, and hails from Ogbe Obi Village of Ogbele Quarters, Onicha-Olona, Aniocha North Local Government of Delta State (in the then Bendel State), Nigeria.
Early Life and Education
Iyke was born in Uromi and lived his early life with his parents in, Sapele, Onicha Olona, Onicha Ugbo and Umunede where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1974 from Catholic Primary School 2, Umunede, Delta State. He also obtained the West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) from Federal Government College, Ilorin, Kwara State 1979.
He attended the University of Jos from 1979 to 1985, where he obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery (BMBCH). He worked in other clinics and hospitals until he started his own private medical practice in 1992 at the now First City Diagnosis Hospital Limited Lagos State. Over the years, he trained and worked at various medical institutions locally and internationally (May Clinics Illasamaja, Finnih Medical Center Ikeja Swiss Tropical Institute Basel Switzerland) acquiring diverse experience in the field of medicine.
Business Life
As an entrepreneur, Iyke established FCD Hospital, Azumagcc Limited, a dredging and Construction Company, which began operations in 2000, D and D Bakery and Theodora Faith a company that runs bus services for schools.
Political Life
Iyke’s political history dates back to the University of Jos where he became the first President of Anioma Students Association in the University of Jos in 1983. In 1990, he was a Lagos State delegate under National Republican Convention (NRC) alongside notable politicians like late Babas Akerele. He was a pioneer member of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ward 4 in Aniocha-North Delta State. In 2003 he contested against Senator Patrick Osakwe for the Delta North Senatorial District. In 2007, in the face of intra-party crisis, he pioneered the setting up of the PDP Delta State elders, leaders and stakeholders Forum in Aniocha North Local government under the National Leadership of Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark. In 2010 he formed the Delta Coalition for Change (DCC) with other notable politicians to press for change in the politics of Delta State.
In the countdown to the 2011 general elections Iyke’s Delta Coalition for Change (DCC) joined forces with the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) to promote the Ogboru/Tilije gubernatorial ticket for Delta State against the Emmanuel Uduaghan gubernatorial ticket, where he served as campaign director of Delta North Senatorial District.
Iyke vehemently supported the candidacy of Sir Tony Obuh for governor of Delta State, a ticket that Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa clinched to participate in the gubernatorial elections, in which Ifeanyi Okowa was eventually declared winner.
In 2013 he joined forces with the late Senator Akpor Pius Eweridoh camp of the DPP with other legacy party members to form the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Iyke was the first Chairman of Reconciliation Committee of the APC Delta State, as well as Director of Security and Reconciliation of the Olorugun O’tega Emerhor campaign organization 2015 Governorship Election.
Dr. Iyke was the Delta State North campaign coordinator of the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization in the 2015 general election, under the leadership of Honourable Temi Harriman. As campaign coordinator speaking after the results of the 2015 general elections were announced, he held that the way the PDP was managed made it difficult for it to win a federal election with good spread, so it made APC’s job easier.
Dr. Iyke holds that as a party, the APC will not disappoint Nigerians even though miracles should not be expected, but that the level of goodwill that ensured APC’s victory possible, is such that the APC would do everything to sustain it.
On what President Muhammadu Buhari must do in two years as Head of the Nigerian Government, Dr. Iyke said his vision for Nigeria is categorised into short and long terms, with the short term to giving the Nigerian people immediate solutions to the many problems that abound. “He advocated against the scourge of corruption in country, hence his contributions to the APC anti-corruption agenda and implementation of infrastructural policy in the Niger Delta region. He served as Acting-Chairman of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs Ministerial Technical Audit Committee of in July 2016 under the ministerial leadership of Usani Uguru Usani. The report published that from 2009-2015, four hundred and twenty-seven (427) projects costing N700, 538,741,691 has been awarded by the ministry, and of this budgetary sum, over 60% has been spent already; at the time of the audit report, Dr. Iyke and other members of the committee discovered that only 12% of the projects had been completed, with only one commissioned; 18% of the projects stalled and 70% under construction. With money disbursed so far at the time, the remaining N279bn could not complete all projects with “under construction” status.
Iyke is coordinating the Delta State APC Think Tank Group (TTG) and chairing the APC Think Tank Group (TTG) in Delta North Senatorial District to intellectually direct the policy thrust of the party in the State.

He has worked as the Medical Director, First City Diagnosis Hospital Limited (1997 to 2010); Medical Director Aikland Clinic and Maternity (1992 to 1996); Director of Administration/Senior Medical Officer, Finnih Medical Center, Ikeja, Lagos State (June 1989 to1992); Senior Medical Officer, Martins Street Clinic, Apapa, Lagos State (January 1988 to May 1988); Medical Officer, Union hospital, Orlu, Nigeria (August to December 1987); Rural Health Center, Orlu, Imo State (August to November 1987 NYSC); Rural Health Center, Ikenazizi, Imo State (December 1986 to July 1987 NYSC); University of Jos]] Teaching Hospital (January to December 1986 Internship).
Dr. Iyke Odikpo is a Fellow of the Institute Healthcare Management of Nigeria (FIHMN) and Chairman of its Advisory Council (since 2012); a Paul Harris Fellow, and an alumnus of the Swiss Tropical Institute, Basel Switzerland. He is a member of the Nigerian Medical Council (May 1987), Nigerian Medical Association and International Society of Travel Medicine (1997).
Dr. Iyke chairs the First City Diagnosis Hospital Limited (since 2010) and Azumagcc Limited (since 2001), Secretary BOT, Delta Concerned Patriots.
