Ian Liston (b. 4 August 1948) is an English stage, film and TV actor and theatrical producer specializing in pantomime, revue and productions for the British touring theatre market. Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2003, he is also a volunteer ‘patient advocate’. He appeared in CORONATION STREET (as Danny Burrows) and as Sergeant Whitney of the Royal Army Medical Corps in Richard Attenborough’s film A BRIDGE TOO FAR. He was a regular for 10 years in the ITV soap CROSSROADS playing Ron Brownlow. He played the ‘cult’ part of Wes Janson (and a number of ‘masked’ characters including the AT-AT Driver) in STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. His character features widely in the ‘expanded universe’ of books and games. He formed in 1976. Ian Liston is a member of the Garrick Club and The Grand Order of Water Rats and is an ardent advocate for research and fund raising for prostate cancer. He works on a volunteer basis with the Institute of Cancer Research, The Royal Marsden, Prostate Cancer UK and SU2C to promote the necessity for men to seek early treatment for prostate problems and to spread the message to encourage men to take early advice and, perhaps, take part in clinical trials for new treatments.
