Ian Axton

Ian Axton (born 1970) is a British journalist, broadcaster and television executive, currently working for ITV West Country as Head of News.
Career
Before his career in television, Axton worked in commercial radio and ran a company which operated a number of stations along the south coast. He owned two commercial radio stations, Andover Sound in North West Hampshire and Newbury Sound in West Berkshire, before they were sold in August 2011 to Celador Radio.
In 2007, Axton presented ITN programmes ITV News London and the networked ITV News at 5:30. His non-news television work includes The Boat Show for ITV4, as well as The People's Millions and Climate Change, Make A Difference for ITV.
From 2007 until 2009, Axton was a main presenter and producer for the South East Meridian Tonight alongside Sangeeta Bhabra. He joined ITV News West Country as a main presenter in 2010, alongside Vanessa Cuddeford (2010-2013) and Kylie Pentelow (2013-2017).
Axton was appointed Head of News for ITV West Country and left his presenting role in January 2017.
Awards
In his early career, Axton won the BT Southern News Broadcaster of the Year award. In 2004, he won a Royal Television Society Award for his series Meridian Missing.
