IAdea is a company in the digital signage industry known for pioneering development of industrial-grade media player appliances and the digital signboard. IAdea devices are supported by the most number of top digital signage software solutions in the market. In 2009, IAdea pioneered the technology space now known as the digital signboard by introducing a 10-inch, shelf-edge advertising display connected to the Internet. By 2010 this segment is growing at 8x YoY rate. In February 2008, leading digital signage software vendor Scala announced an agreement with IAdea to develop the world's first open network architecture between IAdea's media player appliances and the PC-based Scala Content Manager server software. The interoperability was based on the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language, an W3C open standard for audio video applications. The name IAdea is pronounced "idea." Two initial capitalized letters "IA" stands for "information appliance," a term referring to purpose-specific electronic devices used for information access. Products IAdea produces a line of digital signage media players and digital signboards including the XMP, XDS, CMP, NMP, and HMP models. See Digital signage product comparison. Achievement In January 2007, IAdea developed the world's first integrated circuit running the peer-to-peer BitTorrent network protocol for consumer devices. The technology enables efficient distribution of large video files using simple hardware devices. In August 2007, IAdea was selected Finalist to the prestigious Red Herring 100 Asia Award whose past winners include Google, , Skype, Netscape, Salesforce.com, and YouTube. During the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, IAdea's media players were chosen to drive the largest connected digital signage network in the world, the China Post Media Network, with roll-out plan for the 71,000 nationwide post offices in China. In October 2009, IAdea was nominated to present at the Dow Jones VentureWire Technology Showcase event in San Francisco for its open API digital signage technology platform.
