History Founding of the business Ocean IRM Ltd was founded in 2010 by Steve Hatch. His original vision was to create a Rope Access service company that would establish a global presence. Much of the original planning and case studies on access costs as well as strategy is credited to Tiaan Wolmarans. In 2011 Ocean IRM joined HS Barrier Coatings forming HS Ocean Group, the founding members being John Stafford, Andrew Boardman, John Hardacre, Arthur Hardacre, William Hardacre, Patrick Smith and Steve Hatch. HS Barrier Coatings has since left the group. HS Ocean Group has since then acquired other companies solidifying its service offering. In July 2011 Tiaan Wolmarans formally joined Ocean IRM as Regional Manager for West Africa, and opened the first international office in Port Gentil, Gabon. This went on to be the companies most successful branch to date and management was taken over by Alex Owen and Gavin Nicholson in 2012 and continues to grow. In 2012 the company opened its second African and international branch in Cape Town, South Africa. 2012 also lead on to the formation of Ocean IRM in Pointe Noire, Congo. In 2013 the company was tasked with the removal of the derrick of the first and only FDPSO in the world (BW Offshore's Azurite). This was carried out at sea without incident. Establishment as HSOG 2014 lead on to the renaming of the company and extension of its service offering. From May 2014 the company started phasing out the name Ocean IRM and started implementing its new identity, HSOG. HSOG's service offering is larger than that of Ocean IRM as services now include: * Rope Access * NDT * Fabrication * Fabric Maintenance * HVAC Systems * Planning and Project Management
