Howard Butcher

Howard Butcher is a South African-based music producer.
Born in Kenya he immigrated to South Africa in 1969, attended SACS and later various tertiary institutions pursuing a technical career in air conditioning engineering. He was a founder member of 70s ska group Lancaster Band, a bass player and recording engineer whose production skills were largely influenced by analog techniques. His conservation interests and sound engineering abilities have contributed to the development of infra-sound, stereo-array recording techniques used for locating sub-sonic audio sources. He is a founder and chairman of the Phantom Homtini Nature Conservancy.
Music production and engineering projects include SAMA award titles for Wendy Oldfield in 2009 and Guy Buttery in 2010. He was nominated Best Engineer in 2010 for Flavour by Steve Newman.
He is the principal engineer for Peace of Eden Recording Studio.
