House of Lichtenberg

The House of Lichtenberg is a German noble family whose ancestral seat is in northeast Bavaria. The family originated from the Bavarian town of Lichtenberg, from which is the family's namesake. The Lichtenbergs lived in the town until they they were forced to move due to financial problems in 1922.
Origins
The House of Lichtenberg came into existence as a noble house in 1536 when Louis X, Duke of Bavaria granted Franz Karl von Lichtenberg the title of Count of Lichtenberg for his patronage and support. Franz Karl took his name from his home village of Lichtenberg.
