Hotjar is a behavior analytics company that analyses website use, providing feedback through tools such as heatmaps, session recordings, and surveys. It works with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics to offer an insight into how people are navigating websites, and how their customer experience can be improved. Founded in 2014, Hotjar is run completely remotely by over 100 team members across 20 countries and is used on over 500,000 sites worldwide. History Founded in 2014 by Dr. David Darmanin, Hotjar is a privately owned company that builds research and optimization tools for web businesses. Darmanin remains the chief executive of the company and in March 2019 won the EY Malta Entrepreneur of the Year award. The company went through a nine-month beta program, before making Hotjar available to the public and reaching an Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of €8 Million by June 2017. Hotjar then invested €4million into further expanding the company, which was increased by a further €13million by 2019.
