History
Formed by founding members Ocean Wilson and Ange Kohler in 2005, Hot Liquid Sex's concept was invented well before they began to write music. According to the band, the name refers to something that is especially hot and commonly refers to clothes and/or fashion.
They played their first show in 2006 at Kohler's home in front of family and friends with only two original songs including 'Trousersnake', a song written by of The Boat People who was then a boyfriend of Wilson.
In 2006 they signed an independent recording deal with Brisbane label Mucho-Bravado which already took care of their management and publicity.
In September 2005, they began sessions the EP with Brisbane producer Ben Stewart (Emma Dean, The Boat People. Sessions were split between Ultrasonique Studios and Massive Studios and were completed in March 2008
The debut - entitled Unexpect the Expected - was released in June 2008 and features additional musician Lucas Arundell contributing small additional parts. The EP was launched in Brisbane in front of a full house at The Zoo and a successful east coast tour with The Basics followed.
They split in September 2008, the band citing irreconsolable differences with Wilson.
