Hospitality House of Tulsa is the only local non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization providing home-like lodging and support services for needy families of patients of all ages who travel to Tulsa Oklahoma for necessary inpatient medical care. Founded in November of 2004, Hospitality House of Tulsa has since ministered to more than 500 families from every Tulsa area hospital. The Hospitality House of Tulsa depends on donations from individuals, churches, community organizations, and businesses. About The Hospitality House of Tulsa's mission is to “offer a 'home away from home' for families caring for loved ones in medical crisis.” It is a member of the National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses. The Hospitality House of Tulsa provides free lodging to guests who are referred by medical personnel at any Tulsa area Hospital. In addition to lodging, volunteers provide evening meals and prayer support. These services permit family members to remain in Tulsa to provide much needed emotional and physical support to the medical patient. Family members also receive rest and nutrition needed to better care for the patient during the patient’s recovery. Once the patient and guests return home for recovery, The Hospitality House of Tulsa connects them to resources and volunteers which can assist the family in their home community through a program called Community Connection. Currently, the Hospitality House of Tulsa offers seven guest suites to families caring for loved ones in Tulsa area hospitals. Because of the great need for the Hospitality House’s services, a waiting list often exists until accommodations for additional families become available. With more donations, the Hospitality House of Tulsa hopes to expand in order to meet the needs of families in medical crisis.
