Hoodtrosexual is a term derived from hood and metrosexuality, used to describe someone from the "hood" that lives what many would call a metrosexual lifestyle. Hood is slang for Neighborhood or ghetto. Metrosexual is a neologism derived from metropolitan and heterosexual coined in 1994 describing a man (especially one living in an urban, post-industrial, capitalist culture) who spends a lot of time and money on shopping for his appearance. Debate surrounds the term's use as a theoretical signifier of sex deconstruction and its associations with consumerism. Origin The term originated in a quote by Terri Thomas, age 29 of Chicago, Il, August 2010. Used in a sentence: "I'm hoodtrosexual". For someone that doesn't use many labels, this one is something that many may relate to, in this day and age. |
