Home Instead Senior Care is a multinational network of franchises specializing in non-medical in-home care for the elderly, in support of aging in place. Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, it is the largest senior care franchise in the world, with 1150 independently owned and operated offices worldwide. History Paul and Lori Hogan founded the firm in 1994. The firm has been cited for its business success by organizations such as the Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur Magazine, Franchise Times, , the International Franchise Association, and . Paul Hogan, the organization's CEO, was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the International Franchise Association. In 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2018 the Home Instead Senior Care® network was listed No. 1 overall in franchisee satisfaction among all categories, as announced by Franchise Business Review. The company finds it difficult to recruit staff because pay in the sector is not competitive. Charitable giving In 2003 The Home Instead Senior Care Foundation was established as a means to further enhance the health, safety, support services and lives of seniors. The Foundation funds non-profit organizations that specialize in programs and services for seniors, including research and development, education, scholarships, and/or advocacy for the health and well being of the elderly. As of 2014, The Home Instead Senior Care Foundation had awarded 151 grants totaling more than $1.5 million. Performance The franchise in Granville, Ohio, opened in 2004, has about 200 volunteers and is regularly at the top of the annual surveys of caregivers across the world. The company won the J.D. Power President’s Award for its commitment to caring for older adults and exceeding customer’s expectations in 2018. The operation in Stockton-on-Tees, Home Instead Cleveland, which was set up in 2014 and is owned and run by a former Stockton Rugby Club player, was rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission after an inspection in 2018. The York & Malton franchise was also rated outstanding in 2018. The CQC reported: ‘The culture at Home Instead Senior Care is exceptionally open, honest and caring, demonstrating a commitment to putting their clients and staff at the heart of everything they do.’ The firm was awarded a Five Star Employer award by the human resources company WorkBuzz in December 2018. The operation in Waterford was established in 2009 in Cleaboy Business Park and now employs 20 office staff and more than 120 care givers.
