Hipco

Hipco is a rap style that was pioneered in Liberia by fellow Rapper Luckay Buckay. It's short for Hip Hop Colloqua because of Rap representing Hip Hop and the Colloqua that Luckay Buckay speaks which is known to Liberians also as Liberian English, which is a Broken English in the oldest Republic of West Africa. Most Liberian Artists would mostly use this Rapping Style over an Highlife beat or an Afro-Beat instrumental to buzz all ages in Liberia to listen to the Hipco style over the West African music because only younger people were into this Rapping Style. Hipco started in Congo Town, Monrovia the capital of Liberia after the Second Liberian Civil War had ended with Sia Sherif leaving the port with his LURD Forces and Charles Taylor resigning and leaving Liberia. Hipco is widely considered Liberian Hip Hop to most Liberian Artists but in reality it is Rap in Broken English. "We Bringing English Down, meaning Colloqua, we ain't respecting that English Talk" says Luckay Buckay. He's one of the first Liberian Rappers that has so far pioneered or declared an Rapping style. This is to let Americans know that Liberians have their own way of rapping. The Colloqua of Rapping sounds different from the American way of Rapping, the African American Vernacular English way of Rapping to put it clearly. Most Hipco songs were uploaded on YouTube since 2007.
