HER NAME IS MURDER PRODUCTIONS is a Brisbane based film production company founded in mid 2009 by brothers D.O. and Dean Blackley, dedicated to the art of music video production, photography (live & promo), short film production and script/screen writing, working interstate within Australia.
History & Company Formation
The company began after the now defunct Bright Horizon Productions (2004-2006) ceased shooting productions within Brisbane. D.O. Blackley, a freelance director for Bright Horizon Productions, continued with script writing for a few years until founding Her Name Is Murder Productions and focussing on music videos specifically. It was June/July 2009 that the companies first music video under the official Her Name Is Murder Productions title was shot, for Queensland based metal band Embrace Eternity.
2009
During 2009, Her Name Is Murder Productions shot three music videos and in December 2009, the company wrote and directed the short film 'An Atlas At Midnight'. The film, centered around two characters at the end of their relationship, is due for release in 2011, premiering at an International Film Festival.
2010
In 2010, Her Name Is Murder Productions worked with some of Australia's most prolific hardcore music artists, including Confession, Thy Art Is Murder, Wish For Wings, Draw First Blood, Never Lose Sight and Armada In The Dusk.
In mid 2010, Embrace Eternity released their debut album, which was accompanied with a bonus 1 hour documentary; shot, edited and directed by Her Name Is Murder Productions, titled '1 Part South African, 4 Parts Australian'.
2011
The companies newest music video for Brisbane band Madisonfoxx is available to view on Youtube. Her Name Is Murder Productions will spend the better part of 2011 working with various bands across Australia; including North Qld, Sydney and Perth.
