Heljareyga

Heljareyga is a progressive folk metal band founded by Týr's current lead singer, Heri Joensen. Unlike Týr, Heljareyga's music is not based on traditional melodies but written with entirely new arrangements. In addition, lyrics are strictly sung in Faroese.
Name Origin
Heljareyga translates to Hel's Eye or The Eye of Hel. It is also a geological phenomenon located in the Faroe Islands where deep holes appear in the rock underneath waterfalls and ground close to the sea. Some are big enough to crawl into while others are only centimeters in diameter. In early times, these holes were thought of as passages down to the realm of Hel, or as the very eye of Hel, the Norse Goddess of the Dead, staring up at the world and the sky. The use of this mythology can also be found in the song "The Ride to Hel" on the Týr album .
History
After successfully recording their first self-titled album in December 2009, mixing and mastering was completed in early January 2010 at Kohlekeller Studios in Germany.
