HART CULTURE C.I.C is a Registered Community Interest Company and Not For Profit Organisation, established June 28th 2010. It is dually known to bring into prominence the main establishment of 'Arts & Cultural Enagagement' at National and local levels. The main operating areas of the "HC" remain in the United Kingdom. The Service was first introduced under the esteemed Community Links Trust - formed just over 30 years ago by the overall 2008 Award Winning and Beaconship Prize Winner Kevin Jenkins , OBE. Hart Culture is also referred to as the 'HC'; whose Headquarters are currently based in the East London Borough of Newham. Concept The Hart Culture Project was founded on the premise of a series of Voluntary Artistic Pilots and Academic Research in Photography, Graphic Design, Arts and Cultural Engagement Practice by a number of Volunteers and Arts Leaders. The Project grew via notable Alumni of Central Saint Martin's College of Art & Industrial Design. Other notable Alumni of Central Saint Martin's include Colin Firth (Actor and Writer, )John Galliano, Stella McCartney(Fashion Designer), Pierce Brosnan (Actor) and Yinka Shonibare Byam Shaw School of Art (Artist). The word "Hart" is an alternative word for "Stag" and relates to the surname directly synonymous with the origins of the Scottish "Harts" Clan , which features a "Deer" on the official Coat of Arms. Thus, "Hart" in HART CULTURE stands for a Culture for 'Love' and intelligent appreciation for all things signifcantly 'Cultural'. Projects Notable Cultural Engagement Projects that the HC have initiated to engage non-traditional audiences include: The Bereavement Through Arts Summer Program, The Drop In Bereavement Centre, Regeneration of the Beckton Globe Library Teens Library, Regeneration: St Bonaventures Sixth Form Collecge, Regeneration: St Edwards R.C School, Eton Boutique Photography Gallery: 60's Architecture, The Merit Awards For Excellence, The East London Lifestyle Festival, Welcome Home Africa Dance, 48th Zambian Independence and The Quadrennial International Reading Symposium. Notable Recipients and Nominees of the Merit Awards For Excellence include: David Oyelowo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Taio Cruz, Chucky Venn, Dizzie Rascal, Shirley Bassey, Gloria Idahota Williams, Biyi Bandele, Gina Yashere, Sade, Lemar Obika and Sophie Okenedo.
