Harry Weller is a prominent venture capitalist based in Washington, DC. He is frequently recognized as one of America’s top VCs, with honors including the Forbes Midas List, Washingtonian’s Titans of Technology, and Business Insider’s Top 5 East Coast VCs. He was an early investor in Groupon and co-founded the Young Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (YAVA). Weller is currently on the Board of Directors of 10gen; Boulder Wind Power; Opower; Pentaho; ScienceLogic; SolidFire; Sonatype; and Suniva. Business career Weller joined New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in 2002 and is currently a General Partner. Prior to joining NEA, he was a General Partner at FBR Technology Venture Partners. Earlier in his career he worked with Boston Consulting Group as well as Deloitte and Touche Systems Consulting. Career at NEA Weller leads NEA’s early-stage investing practice on the East Coast and helped found the firm’s China practice. He focuses on technology and renewable energy, and past investments have included Echo Global Logistics, Eloqua, Groupon, Merlin Securities (acquired by Wells Fargo), Riverbed (acquired by Aether Systems), Sourcefire, Vertica (acquired by Hewlett Packard), Vonage, and webMethods (acquired by Software AG)—all of which have completed public offerings or successful acquisitions. Weller is also Chairman and Founding Partner of The Experiment Fund, housed at Harvard University, and is an Expert in Residence at Harvard. Education Weller received a master’s in business administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in physics from Duke University. in the United States Navy.
