Harris Technology

Harris Technology Pty Ltd. is an Australian IT retailer owned and operated by Anyware Corporation.
History
Harris Technology Group Limited is an ASX-Listed entity resulting from the July 2016 merger involving Anyware Corporation Pty Ltd, its subsidiary Harris Technology Pty Ltd and Shoply Limited. The new corporate site is www.ht8.com.au
Harris Technology was started by Ron Harris on 6 October 1986. After a trip to the USA, it became apparent that the IT Retail market in Australia would be receptive to a computer superstore. Harris Technology opened its first Superstore in North Sydney, under the Bayer Building (formerly Mann Building then Konika Building).
On 1 April 1999, Coles Myer acquired Harris Technology. During this period Harris Technology expanded with business centres in four Australian states and one territory and a website including detailed information on more than 15,000 products becoming one of Australia’s major resellers of technology to small and medium businesses.
The following years saw Harris Technology alter their focus to online sales, eventually shutting their last remaining store in October, 2014.
Harris Technology was acquired by Anyware Corporation - on 6 June 2015.
In 2016 Harris Technology underwent somewhat of a resurgence under the online business model which in part lead to a merger with ASX listed Shoply Group. Shoply’s assets included four online retail businesses, two of which - Warcom and eStore - existed in the same space as HT.
The merger took place on 15 July 2016 at which point these two technology businesses were absorbed into the Harris Technology business. The merger also saw Anyware Corporation CEO Garrison Huang assume control of the company as major shareholder.
Concurrent with the merger, the Shoply name was terminated, replaced by Harris Technology Group Limited which coincided with its ASX code changing from SHP to HT8.
The remaining two retail businesses from the Shoply era represent a diversification away from HT’s traditional technology into kitchenware, homewares and small appliances (www.yourhomedepot.com.au) and also baby and parenting needs (www.wowbaby.com.au)
