The Hardy Bucks is a cult web-based sit-com based on life in small-town Ireland. The series follows the lives of Eddie and Buzz, two twenty-somethings from Castletown, a fictional town set in Co. Mayo, Ireland. The series has been shortlisted for and subsequently became a finalist on RTÉ's Storyland competition. British TV stations have also been reported as having expressed an interest in the series. The series is shot in the mockumentary style of Trailer Park Boys, which the writers are fans of, although they also cite Father Ted as being an influence. Production The series is produced by a group of film makers based in Swinford, Ireland and is written by Chris Tordoff and Martin Maloney. Tordoff and Maloney moved to Swinford when they were 11 and 12 from Leeds and Liverpool in the UK. They cite this outside perspective as helping them in writing the series. Tordoff directs while Martin plays the lead role of Eddie (despite having a Scouse accent in real life). Tordoff is a media student at Ballyfermot College and the series was made with crew and equipment borrowed from the college. The series is shot on location in Swinford.
