Hammerkatz

Hammerkatz is a sketch comedy group from New York University in New York City. Founded in 2002 by Tisch School of the Arts- Dramatic Writing graduate student AJ Morales and Andrew Shemin, they perform all-new shows every month during the school year at the University and have performed a freshmen orientation show every year at NYU's Welcome Week since 2004. They also perform in New York City at venues such as The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and The P.I.T.
They participate in national college comedy festivals such as the Skidmore College National College Comedy Festival.
Hammerkatz auditions new writer/performers every September. The current cast of Hammerkatz is: Sudi Green (Director), Rob Tanchum (Assistant Director), Emma Noble, Rachel Joravsky, Max Ash, Jack Quaid, Tirosh Schneider, Kayla Hawkins, Rachel Pegram, Peter Kelly, Matt Reimann, and Meg McDermott. Their stage managers are David Ojo and Magda Cychowski.
History
Originally founded as Wicked Wicked Hammerkatz in 2002 by AJ Morales and Andrew Shemin, the original group consisted of students. After graduation, a professional group formed that consisted of Doug Mand, DC Pierson, Donald Glover, Dominic Dierkes, Fran Gillespie, Dan Gregor, Greg Burke, Lou Perez, and in a later incarnation would add Eliza Skinner The group continues as an official NYU club, auditioning new students every year.
