Hamilton City Fire Protection District

The Hamilton City Fire Protection District is the primary agency providing fire and medical services to the residents Hamilton City, CA. The HCFPD is made up of 1 full-time Fire Chief, a part-time Division Chief, and Volunteer Firefighters. The District is governed by a five member Board of Directors with staggered terms. Directors are appointed by Glenn County.

The HCFPD has a total of 9 emergency vehicles including two type-1 fire engine pumpers, two type-3 wildland engines, one water tender one converted Ford F-650 which serves as a rescue unit, and one utility pickup truck. The other two vehicles are used for the personal transportation and response by the District's Chief Officers. Despite the District's relatively large response district, HCFPD responds to less than 300 emergencies a year. This is due to the very rural geography of the surrounding area, the low population of the District, and its proximity to the Sacramento River and Butte County line.

The HCFPD has an automatic and mutual aid agreement with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection/Butte County Fire which calls for an engine from Hamilton City to respond approximately 3 miles into Butte County in addition to Butte County engines. The agreement also calls for engines from Butte to respond into Hamilton City in the event of a large scale emergency.
