Hakka-Pac

Hakka-Pac (派克), is a Taiwanese rapper.

Hakka-Pac grew up in a military village in Hsinchu Taiwan. Having only one arm thanks to a birth-defect, he was a target of bullying growing up. To escape bullying, he stuided hard in school, eventually earning himself a full scholarship to the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan. There he met members of the Taiwanese hip-hop group DTG, and they started performing at talent shows and in local bars. In 2004, while performing at TMC, he was involved in an altercation with a rival rap group. He was sued for assault and battery, and he was sentenced to one year in prison. In prison, he was the target of discrimination as a result of his heritage. Upon leaving prison, he decided use his skills as a rap artist to bring to light the plight of lower-income Hakka people in Taiwan. He is also active politically as a member of the Hakka Revolutionary League.

His first album 綠島快 (Straight Outta Green Island) was lauded by the Taiwanese underground as a "hip-hop classic." He is currently working on his first studio album, tentatively titled as 客家就 (Get Hakka or Die Trying), with a release date of late-2007, early-2008. Hakka-Pac's first single is titled "From Plush to 18," featuring Lee-hom Wong.
