Habeebur Rahman Bijli

Habeebur Rahman Bijli (known as Bijli Sahib or Mr. B.F.H.R.Bijli; born April 1, 1943) is a civil and environmental engineer by profession. Islamic Religious scholar, orator, interfaith conversant speaker, a social worker, having good command over the religious studies such as Hinduism, Christianity and Islam.
Childhood and studies
He studied at Government Central High School and Model High School, Trivandrum, and studied engineering in Kerala University. He went to Calcutta University to study his higher education. Further he went to London University to acquire advanced education. He is widely travelled in India and abroad.
Career and retirement
He has worked in various places abroad and with persons of different nationalities and eventually he retired as Chief Engineer, Kerala Water Authority and Technical Member, Water Appellate Authority (Government of Kerala) in 1998.
He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Water Works Association and Institute of Public Health Engineers and member of similar other professional bodies. He is also patron/life member of various social organizations.
Social activities
A person of social and philosophical bent of mind, he is a known social worker. His approach to life is somewhat different often leading to misunderstandings. He accepts the faith of Islam unequivocally and considers Islamic faith a complete way of life and a social reformatory movement and not as a religion.
As an orator
He speaks and writes more than four languages. He is a good writer and a fair speaker and an ardent conversationist. He keeps company with the youth to keep his mind young and to stay away from the lamentations of the old.
He lives in Thiruvananthapuram, the Capital of Kerala.
Current activities
He is active social worker bringing communal harmony in the society. Apart he is serving the downtrodden people of the society by way of charity. He is the Coordinator for the Urdu Study Centre, of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language NCPUL (HRD Ministry, Government of India) and thus serving the language and literature.
