</noinclude> Sheikh Abdur Rahman Madani Shaheb (born 10 January 1971) is a Bangladeshi-born British scholar, writer, and the imam and Khatib of Darul Ummah Mosque. He is the principal of Jamiatul Ummah Secondary School and Sixth Form. Shaheb is also known as an public speaker and presenter on Islamic programs and charity events on Channel S and Peace TV Bangla. He is also the chairman of Global Aid Trust (GAT), one of the famous british charity organisation. Background Abdur Rahman Madani was born in Khulna, Bangladesh, and moved to Medina as a teenager to study at Islamic University of Madinah. Subsequently he moved to the England to study for a PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London. Media and charity work Abdur Rahman Madani went to Bangladesh, in 2008 just after the Cyclone Sidr had struck and left millions of people homeless. Madani along with Muslim Aid helped the team to distribute food, water and garments to the affected people, along with Barrister Rizwan Hussain and Abdur Jolil Miah. Leadership From 16 April 2002, Abdur Rahman Madani served as the Khatib of Darul Ummah Mosque of London, when they distributed over 100,000 copies of the Holy Quran with simple Bengali translation in the Bengali speaking zones. The recipients of the Holy Quran included many multi-lingual speakers (Arabic, English and Bengali) such as Bangladesh military officers, high achieving students from secondary schools, and other people from the Cyclone Aila and SIDR affected areas. Abdur Rahman Madani is also an executive member of Dawatul Islam United Kingdom and Ireland, which is a community organisation that is actively engaged in spreading the word of Islam. Education Abdur Rahman Madani received a Bachelor of Arts centering on Arabic Language & Islamic Studies from the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia in 1994. Subsequently Madani also earned a Master of Arts concentrating on Arabic in 1995. He gained a Master of Philosophy from Dhaka University. Madani went on to achieve a first in each year's class award at both. Abdur Rahman Madani also was awarded with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2008. He is now pursuing a PhD at University of London.
