The GROW Academy is making a difference by providing a stepping-stone for school leavers and the digitally passionate unemployed to get back into the job market. The primary focus of the company is to bring tertiary-level education to those previously without the opportunity. Once successfully completing the course, Grow Academy students will be introduced to internship opportunities at non-profit organisations and the final step involves apprenticeship opportunities with the corporate sector, where graduates of the academy will have the opportunity to pursue full-time employment or the establishment of their own businesses. This initiative is a prime example of developing industries are able to open up job opportunities in underdeveloped countries. The organisations primary objectives are to: * Alleviate poverty in South Africa. * Develop local youths. * Engage in social work. * Help the unemployed develop skills. History By June 2011 the first Boot Camp was launched in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. More than 75% of these graduates are now employed or studying further. Six companies collaborated in order to start up GROW Academy and in turn make a difference in the future of South Africa. Every partner brought a different expertise to the table. The companies involved in GROW are all specialists in their fields - Social Media, Web Design and Development, Search Engine Optimisation, Crowdsourcing, high-touch online education and development of IT services in township areas . As South African professionals and citizens, the founders of GROW Academy were able to relate to the struggle of impoverished youths living in South Africa and were able to educate and alleviate the burden of these youths.
