Gregory Oswald Griffin

Gregory Oswald Griffin, Sr. (born July 11, 1958) is an American civil and criminal trial lawyer. Mr. Griffin completed his undergraduate studies at Morehouse College and attended law school at the University of Pittsburgh (JD) and Boston University (LLM Taxation).

Attorney Grffin is the Chief Counsel for the Alabama Board of pardons and Paroles and is the first African American to hold the position of Chief Legal Counsel for any state agency in Alabama.

Prior to his current position, Griffin was an assistant attorney general in the Attorney General Office specializing in civil litigation and criminal appellate practice. During this time, he represented Alabama State Judges and other public officials. Prior to this position, Attorney Griffin was general counsel to the Alabama Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.

Attorney Griffin is the first African American Chairman of the Capital City Club of Montgomery, Al and is a senior columnist with the Tuskegee Times, one of Alabama's oldest Black Newspapers. As a college senior, Attorney Griffin was Selected Student Body President at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. As President he discovered famed film director Spike Lee when he selected Mr. Lee, a fellow student, to direct and produce Morehouse's coronation in 1978. Attorney Griffin is also an adjunct instructor at Alabama State University teaching courses in Real Estate Finance, Business Law I and Federal Income Taxation. He has served in that position since 1989 and also served as legal counsel to the late A.G. Gaston.
