Gregory Gumo

Gregory Joseph Gumo, (born May 30, 1974) is an entrepreneur from New York City, New York. Gregory was co-founder of the pioneering online music streaming company Soundpedia as well as co-founder of the hugely successful events company SoundFormula/SquareBeats best known for the Fuel Music Festival held during the Singapore Grand Prix 2009 at Suntec City Convention Centre and the National Museum of Singapore. From 2008 he has also fronted the startup catalyst Makeforce in Singapore.
Early life
Born in the suburbs of Washington DC, Gregory spent his youth split between Ormond Beach, Florida and Malverne, New York. As a rebellious teen he naturally gravitated to New York City where he soon started producing underground dance music events. He was briefly married to his longtime partner Maiko Nakaura of the ultra-hip Parisian fashion/art collective Some/things before moving to Japan in late 2001 where he met and married Ayumi Jomori whom he has three children with.
Technologist
Since his move to Singapore he has become a major advocate for companies and fellow entrepreneurs from around the world to relocate and set up shop in Singapore. After leaving Soundpedia in 2007 he co-founded Makeforce which assisted IDA Singapore and the National University of Singapore's technopreneurship programme.
Entertainment
By the age of 18 Gregory had found himself working for Peter Gatien as an event organizer and promoter. With the downfall of Peter Gatien and the closing of Limelight, Tunnel, Club USA and Palladium in the late 90's Gregory went on to opening a string of businesses with various partners some of which have gone on to achieve remarkable notoriety including 7 boutique, and Big City Graph-X & Printing. After the reopening of Limelight and Tunnel he was asked to return as the Director of both venues and continued as such until their closing in 2001 shortly after the September 11 World Trade Center Attack. While serving as the director of Limelight and Tunnel Gregory successfully reestablish the venue's notoriety by bringing in such world famous acts as Paul Oakenfold, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Daft Punk, Green Velvet, among countless others.
At 35 Gregory once again reentered the nightlife arena with the launch of an event company which produced the highly successful Fuel Festival series.. As of 2010 together with former colleagues from Limelight and Tunnel in New York, Gregory has started working on Avalon and Pangaea entertainment complex projects as the head of marketing .
