Greg Williams is an American football coach who currently serves as the defensive backs coach for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). Williams has 15 seasons of coaching experience, including nine years at the NFL level. He most recently served as defensive backs coach for Indianapolis from 2016-17 after seven seasons with San Diego as assistant linebackers coach (2009-12) and assistant secondary coach (2013-15). Playing career Williams is a former wide receiver and defensive back that played at the University of North Carolina. He competed in training camps with the Chicago Bears and New York Giants before spending time in NFL Europe, the XFL and the Arena Football League. Coaching career College Williams' coaching career began as an intern with Arizona State in 2003 and as an assistant coach at the College of DuPage from 2004-05. Williams spent two years (2006-07) as Arkansas Tech’s defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator before working the 2008 season as the University of Pittsburgh’s secondary/graduate assistant coach. NFL Williams entered the NFL with the San Diego Chargers as assistant linebackers coach in 2009. He held that position for four seasons before shifting to assist with the team’s secondary from 2013-15. Williams then spent two seasons coaching the Colts’ defensive backs from 2016-17. Williams is currently the Denver Broncos defensive backs coach.
