GreenNurture is a Tempe, Arizona based company that helps organizations easily deploy sustainability programs that reduce wasteful practices and affect their balance sheet - all this while benefiting the environment. It is the first turnkey solution aimed at internalizing a company's efforts to go green. GreenNurture’s software, powered by a social media type application, is centered on user-generated feedback, and enables any employee in a company to make valuable suggestions and take actions. The system then tracks the results, provides in-depth reports of the eco-actions taken, and rewards employees for their participation. The application, which officially launched at the DEMO Conference on March 22, 2010, was picked as one of the top five technologies by the Microsoft's Startup Zone Blog. Business model The genesis of the business idea was formed by Derrick Mains, a green tech entrepreneur and public speaker on sustainability, who believed that it was necessary to look beyond the (reduce, reuse, recycle) that traditionally define the green movement. Since he realized that social media could revolutionize employee engagement, the time was right to turn companies on to sustainability, more specifically micro-sustainability, by letting employees drive the program using social media-based tools. The application includes four more R’s, rethink, re-connect, report, and reward. Partners * RecycleBank, a rewards company that has a presence in over 35 municipalities in the US, and in the UK. * New Media Marketing, an interactive agency blending new marketing communication technologies with sustainability.
