Green Front

The Green Front (Fronte Verde), also known as Independent Ecologists (Ecologisti Indipendenti), is a green political party in Italy. Its leader is Vincenzo Galizia, who had been previously leading member of the Tricolour Flame and the Social Idea Movement.
The party was founded in 2007 as an alternative to the Federation of the Greens, the main green party in Italy, accused to be too drifted on the far left of the political spectrum. The party's main belief is that ecologism is neither right-wing or left-wing (as Alexander Langer stated during the constituent assembly of the Green Lists in 1985) and, although most of its members come from the right, the party has taken an independent position, sometimes pandering to the left and sometimes to the right.
In the 2008 general election the party was part of For the Common Good, a predominantly left-wing minor coalition, while it supported Gianni Alemanno (National Alliance, The People of Freedom) for Mayor of Rome.
