Grant Nordman

Grant Nordman (born January 19, 1950 in Santa Monica, California) is an outgoing city councillor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in the St. Charles Ward. Nordman was the Speaker of Winnipeg City Council.
Nordman was born in California when his father ran a business in Santa Monica during the 1950s.
Nordman was first elected to Winnipeg City Council on October 25, 2006, succeeding retired Councillor Peter De Smedt.
The 2010 Winnipeg Civic Election saw Grant Nordman re-elected with a 52% plurality of the vote.
On November 4, 2013, Grant Nordman was appointed the acting deputy mayor of Winnipeg and was made a member of the Executive Policy Committee of Winnipeg City Council. He was a member of the Standing Policy Committee on Finance, the Assiniboia Community Committee and the Board of Appeal (Local Improvement Assessment Appeals). Nordman was the city council representative to the Mayor's Age Friendly & Seniors Advisory Committee and acted as the city liaison with the Royal Canadian Navy frigate .
Nordman serves also as the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Partnership of the Manitoba Capital Region, and on the board of directors for the Red River Exhibition Association and the Canadian Capital Cities Organization.
Nordman is the second member of his family to serve as the councillor for St. Charles Ward. His father, the late Ric Nordman, served as the city councillor for St. Charles Ward from 1974 to 1981. Later, his father served as the provincial MLA for the constituency of Assiniboia from 1981 to 1988.
