Grand Canyon Preparatory Academy is a public charter college preparatory school in Tempe, Arizona, United States. It is a member of the Canyon Athletic Association. Grand Canyon Preparatory Academy provides individualized educational programs to students in grades sixth through twelve, and is a school where big school academics meet small classroom sizes. History The school was founded in 1997. Grand Canyon Preparatory Academy is sponsored by the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools. The school has been accredited by the North Central Association/AdvancED since 1999, and was rated a "B" School by Arizona in 2011-12 and 2013-14. They had an 8 out of 10 rating in 2011/12. Over the last ten and a half years Grand Canyon students have earned just over 1000 hours of college credit. In 2014, the school started a partnership with the East Valley Institute of Technology. AIMS results During the 2010 Math testing, of the 31 total students tested, 45% of students fell far below the standards, 6% approached the standards, 39% met the standards, and 10% exceeded the standards. During the 2010 Reading AIMS testing, of the 30 total students tested, 7% fell far below the standards, 3% approached the standards, 83% met the standards, and 7% exceeded the standards.<ref name="AIMSResults" /> During the 2010 Writing AIMS testing, of the 24 total students tested, 4% fell far below the standards, 29% approached the standards, 67% met the standards, and 0% exceeded the standards.<ref name="AIMSResults" /> Dual credit The school offers selected dual enrollment classes that offer college and high school credit.
