GraduRates is the first peer to peer platform in the U.K. providing loans for postgraduate students. By using a Peer-to-peer lending model, GraduRates is able to offer increased access to postgraduate financing while lowering the cost for student borrowers. GraduRates uses a matching principal similar to that of zopa which matches lender offers with borrower loan requests. Overview GraduRates was launched in early 2013 by Jothan Webb in response to the postgraduate funding crisis in the U.K. Although GraduRates is described as a peer to peer lender, this is not strictly correct as it is not student's direct peers who provide the funding. GraduRates is more accurately termed a crowdfunding platform that allows lenders to offer loans to postgraduate students. GraduRates is based in London, UK. |
