Refinance.com

Refinance.com is a free Internet service, launched in January 2010, that aims to make it easier for homeowners to refinance their mortgages. The service’s goal is to increase transparency in the mortgage refinancing process and give consumers more control. Refinance.com is managed by mortgage-finding service Home-Account Inc.
History
Home-Account launched Refinance.com as its mortgage refinancing service in 2010 after acquiring the rights to use of the domain from its current licensee, Pyramid Advisors LLC. Pyramid licensed the use of the name from its current owner.
The URL remains licensed to Home Account Inc. although the refinance.com site is maintained by Bills.com.
Prior to that the URL had been licensed for a period by BFC Holdings, the owner of the URL at that time to Homebridge Mortgage Bankers which used it as a DBA from 2006 to 2008. BFC sold the URL in 2008.
Under its former management led by Nicholas Bratsafolis as Chairman and CEO, Refinance.com was a direct, United States government-approved Federal Housing Administration mortgage lender licensed in 35 states. Specializing in home refinancing, the company closed $1 billion in residential mortgage loans in 2007.

Appreciating America plan
Since 2007, the subprime mortgage crisis has rocked the mortgage industry. During this time, many borrowers have lost their homes to foreclosure while lenders have experienced a drastic increase in costly write-downs. In response to this situation, Bratsafolis authored a plan called “Appreciating America,” which works to help prevent the losses for both parties. The plan has received support from members of the United States Congress, and offers a solution for homeowners whose mortgage exceeds the value of their home.
