Gmail safety, how to check if your account got hacked?

There is a very simple method of checking if your gmail account got hacked.

Login to your gmail and look all the way to the bottom of the page. It's going to say
"last account activity", look at the IP address that it gives you. Copy/paste that IP
address into http://ip-address-lookup-v4.com/ to see the city and country where the IP
address originated from. If it doesn't match your country then chances are your IP
got hacked.

You may also click "details" to see previous activities on the account. It's going to show
you previous 3 IP addresses that have accessed the account.

What if the footer with the IP address is missing in GMAIL (last account activity), you need
to wait 5 minutes then try again. Verify your version of gmail> standard, basic or old
always try to use standard. You can also try a different browser (using Chrome
instead of firefox for example).

As soon as you discover the breach of the account change the account password and set your phone number in gmail for account recovery (in case it gets hacked and they change your password). To set the phone number in gmail click on Settings> Accounts and Import> Change Password recovery options you may also want to check "Other Google Account Settings" just in case.

Best defense against hackers is preventive safe browsing. Browsing questionable sites with adult material and illegal applications is a sure fire way of getting infected and potentially

getting your accounts hacked.
