* ABC: see: Assistant Branch Commissioner
* ACSL: Assistant Cub Scout Leader
* Activity Guide: Activity Guides are able to lead or guide youth and adult members a particular adventurous activity, such as caving or ski touring. Additionally, Activity Guides may provide limited instruction to ensure the safe participation of youth and adult members in that activity. Activity Guide training is available only to adult members 18 years and above.
* Activity Instructor: Activity Instructors are fully trained Activity Leaders with a number of years of experience in providing activities, and are authorised to conduct and assess youth and adult training courses and issue Industry Standard (SISO10) quaifications.
* Activity Leader (1): Activity Leaders lead or guide youth and adult members in that chosen activity to a higher degree of competency and challenge. Additionally, Activity Leaders facilitate skills transfer development of youth and adult members. Activity Leader training is only available to adult members 18 years and above. Successful completion of Activity Leader training includes assessment in the relevant specialist activity area at a range of locations over a period of time, and completion of the Training of Trainers - Assessor Module. Activity Leaders are Appointed for a period of three years after which they are required to provide evidence of currency in their specialist activity area normally by means of a log book of activity participation and leadership. Activity Leaders may be authorised to conduct and assess youth and adult training courses and issue Scout Standard qualifications
* Activity Leader (2): Generic term for Adventurous Activity specialists including trained in a particular activity, including Activity Guides, Activity Leaders, and Activity Instructors (but not usually Activity Participants).
* Activity Participant: Youth and adult members trained and qualified to participate independently or under supervision in their chosen specialist activity area in accordance with Branch (State) guidelines. Adult members trained to Participant level only are not authorized to lead or guide activities for youth or other adult members. Participant training is provided in a range of specialist activity areas at various levels and is available to youth and adult members

* BARCOM: a rafting activity for Venturers which takes places on the Murray River
* BATC: Branch Activity Training Centre; the central point for Victorian adventurous activity teams, located in Mount Waverley, Victoria.

* Certificate of Merit: An Adult Recognition Award presented to uniformed members for good service to the Association for a period of at least 3 years. The uniform badge is a white and green knot on a blue background.

* crate-stacking: An activity which consists of an individual, the stacker, placing crates one on top of the other while being suspended from an overhead beam by a belayer, to see how high they can get without falling.

* Cuboree: A Cub Jamboree, usually held Statewide rather than nationwide. In Victoria and NSW lasts for 5 days, in other states lasts one weekend.

* DC: District Commissioner
* Distinguished Service Award: An Adult Recognition Award presented to non-uniformed supporters for distinguished service to the Association since the last Award. It's worn around the neck on an orange ribbon.
* District: a geographic area usually comprising one municipality, or more in the case of rural Districts.
* District Commissioner: an adult Leader in charge of a District, usually a single municipality.
* District Leader: an adult Leader who manages an aspect of the Scout program in a District, for example District Leader (Cub Scouts) or District Leader (Development).

* ESGAV: Ethinic Scouts and Guides Association of Victoria. Consists of seven member communities - Latvians (who are also members of Scouts Victoria), Estonians, Hungarians, Lithuanians, Poles, Russians and Ukrainians - and was established in 1978 by migrants who were Scouts in Eastern Europe before Scouting was banned by their new communist governments after WWII.

* Grey Wolf Award:
* Group: A local organisational unit of Scouting which consists of one or more Joey Mobs, Cub Scout Packs, Scout Troops, Venturer Scout Units, or Rover Crews. This allows a young person to join at any age and progress through the program in their local community. The Group is usually based in a particular Scout Hall, and most Groups would have their own hall. Can be considered as akin to a footy club.
* Group Leader: an adult Leader in charge of a Group. A Group may consist of one or more Joey Mobs, Cub Scout Packs, Scout Troops, Venturer Scout Units, or Rover Crews.
* Group Support Committee: a group of parents and other non-uniformed supporters of Scouting who work to support the Group, for example by fundraising, maintaining the Scout Hall, and so on.

* Iglute: A multi day snow camp for Venturers
* Initiative course (1): A usually two-day Venturer Section course which focuses on building individual Venturers' initiative skills through a hiking activity interspersed with short activities.
* Initiative course (2): A course similar to an obstacle course or commando course but which forces participants to work as a team to overcome obstacles by thinking, rather than only applying strength or agility.

* Jamboree Troop: A temporary Scout Troop formed of Jamboree participants for the purposes of the activity. Usually made of one or more home Troops.

* Pack Council: A regular meeting held between the Cub Scout Leader (or ACSL) and their Sixers and/or Seconds as a venue for ideas and thoughts about future events and themes and to allow all Cub Scouts to have a say in the running of the Pack.

* Patrol: A small team working together. Scout Troops are arranged in to multiple patrols, led by a Patrol Leader, consisting of a mix of youth members. * RA: Rover Advisor. An adult, older than 25, who works with the Rover section. Rover Advisors are akin to Leaders in other Sections, but because Rovers are adults and self-governing RAs advise the Rovers who are in charge, rather than being in charge themselves.
* RC: Region Commissioner; the senior Leader within a geographic region, usually responsible for Scouting across a number of municipalities.
* Region: a geographic region usually comprising a number of local government areas or municipalities.

* Silver Kangaroo: An Adult Recognition Award presented to uniformed members for eminent achievement and meritorious service to the Association since the last Award. The uniform badge is a gold knot on a dark green background.
* Silver Koala: An Adult Recognition Award presented to uniformed members for distinguished service to the Association since the last Award. The uniform badge is an orange knot on a blue background
* Silver Wattle: An Adult Recognition Award presented to uniformed members for outstanding service to the Association since the last Award. The uniform badge is a green knot on a blue background.
* Six: a small team of four to six Cub Scouts who work together; the Cub Scout equivalent of a Patrol. Led by a Sixer and their Second.

* SL: Scout Leader, an adult leader leading a scout section troop
* Smurf: historical (and derogatory) term for a Sea Scout, so-named because of their traditional blue uniforms with white belt.
* SRESU:
* STAGE: STAGE is the Scouting Technical Activity Group Entertainment, and has been set up to manage the technical aspects of the entertainment side of scouting events, from Jamborees and Cuborees to District and Region ARAPs. STAGE is run by industry professionals who are also current Leaders.
* Surfmoot: An annual event run over the Australia Day weekend by Victorian Rovers

* trek cart: A small cart with bicycles wheels drawn by one or two people, used for carrying supplies when hiking on roads. While trek carts have fallen into disuse as hiking equipment, similar carts are still used for moving supplies around large campsites.
* tripod: a camp gadget constructed from three spars lashed together to form a tripod.
* Troop: the basic organisational unit of the Scout section (10-14 year olds), consisting of one or more Leaders and a number of Scouts organised into Patrols of four-six members.
