Global Sports Alliance USA is a non-profit organization that promotes environmental awareness and action among its local and global members. Incorporating the idea of "fair play" in sports, GSA-USA aims to expand the definition of sportsmanship to include fair play in the environment - ecoplay. GSA-USA Programs GSA-USA encourages environmental action and awareness through several of its programs. 1) Sporting Events -- where GSA-USA does eco-friendliness assessment for various sporting events by providing environmental guidelines and solution (such as education, recycling) to the event organizers and participants. 2) Toss2 -- GSA-USA collects used sports equipment and donate them to schools and sports communities in Asia, Africa, and North American. 3) The Local Trust Program -- members are encouraged to calculate their own carbon footprints and buy credits to help local environmental programs. 4) Champions for Change -- Created with the support of the United Nations Department of Public Information, Champions for Change, authored by Jane Poynter is a book project to educate the public about how climate change has affected the environment, with the intent of reaching young adults to promote environmental awareness.
