The Global Newborn Society (GNS) is a globally-active non-profit, registered that was established recently in 2020 and is now active in 122 countries. The Society is focused on newborn health and brings together health care professionals, families, citizens who endured critical illness during infancy, charitable organizations, government agencies, policy-makers, and everyone else who wishes to support these changes. Many experts are working to standardize quality-improvement measures in all aspects of neonatal care. Others seek to establish large data sets with multi-modality longitudinal follow-up, to generate insights beyond those possible from conventional paradigms. The GNS has four objectives: (a) education and development of clinical protocols/guidelines; (b) collection of accurate epidemiological information, to help prioritize efforts to promote newborn health; (c) find new medical solutions by energizing basic, translational, and clinical research, aiming for innovation in clinical practice; and (d) Philanthropy, seeking social engagement to reduce neonatal disease and deaths. In these efforts, it is collaborating closely with many organizations, including the Rotary Club, Calmed, Group B Strep International, Al-Azhar Pediatric Society, Epic Latino, IFF/Fiocruz Portal, FIGO, mongolian-association-obstetrics-gynecology-and-neonatology-mogna, Neonatologia Brasil, The PBSF (Protecting Brain and Saving Futures) in Brazil, The Middle and Far East Neonatal Society, and the Diabetes Asia. The GNS is active with public health recommendations, and has recently also started a new peer-reviewed scientific journal, the Newborn with an editorial board composed of experts from all over the world. The first issue is anticipated in February 2022. Akhil Maheshwari is the current Editor-in-Chief of this journal. GNS is working on various endeavors to lower the cost of this journal, books, and scientific instruments relevant for newborn care. There is also a highly-active global online discussion forum.
