Giovanni Modanese

Giovanni Modanese (born 1964) is an Italian physicist and a professor at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy. He is known for his friendship and collaboration with the well-known Russian gravity shielding researcher Eugene Podkletnov.
Gravity research
Modanese is a friend of Eugene Podkletnov and wrote several papers between 1996 and 2001 attempting to provide a theoretical framework for Podkletnov's reported gravity shielding observations. Modanese became Podkletnov's main defender and apologist during the time after Podkletnov's expulsion from Tampere and retreat from the public eye in 1997. In 2001 Modanese, with Podkletnov, returned with gravity claims anew, claiming this time to have created a device that that generates a repulsive "gravity beam", although the word "gravity" is omitted in the version of this paper published in 2003. Modanese states that the claims from their research have been independently confirmed in 2011 by one group, although this group stops short of claiming that the unknown force they measured is "gravitational".
Modanese is the author of over 30 works on General Relativity and Quantum Gravity, about two-thirds of which have been published in peer-reviewed journals.
