A Get Paid To Website, or simply GPT, is a website that pays its users to do certain tasks online. These websites are almost always completely ad supported, with the members generating the income for the administrator of the website. Users are required to sign up to these websites in order to participate.

Types of Get Paid To Websites

There are several different types of GPT websites.

Paid To Read

Paid to read (PTR) websites are probably the most common kind of GPT website. In a PTR website, users are paid a small amount of money (usually about 1 cent) for reading an advertiser's email. Since advertising is so cheap on these websites, there is seldom a shortage of emails for members. Paid emails are either timed or untimed. Timed paid emails require the user to view the advertisement for a certain amount of time (usually 20-30 seconds) whereas untimed paid emails just require the user to click into the advertisement page.

Paid To Click

Paid To Click (PTC) websites are similar to paid to read websites, the difference being that a PTC website displays its advertisements on the website, and so do not require the user to receive emails. Most paid to read websites are also paid to click websites, however there are some PTC-only websites. Advertisements on PTC websites, again, are either timed or untimed.

Paid To Signup

Also known as PTS or Paid offers, these websites pay members to sign up for sponsor offers. These offers usually cost money, and so these programs are not free. The problem with these websites is that there is often an overlap of offers between websites; for example several websites may have the same offer available.

Paid to Promote
These websites pay users to promote a link. They usually pay a small amount for every user who views the page.

System

Basic System
Most GPT Websites receive money from their advertisers. For every view, click, survey or sign-up, they receive money. A small amount of that money goes to the visitors of the sites. The people who view the ads. In a certain way, the advertiser gives money to the viewer, whilst the owner of the GPT website earns most of the money.

Referrals
The more people using their site, the more money the GPT site earns. To get more people to their site(s), most of the GPT sites have a referral system, which is similar to the Paid to Promote system. With this referral system, members of the GPT site earn money by just referring others to the GPT site, and letting them sign up under their name, but most of the time members only receive money every time their referral earns money. For example, a site gives 1 cent per advertisement clicked and viewed for a certain amount of time. If a member has 5 referrals, who all click and view 5 ads, they earn 5 cent each. The member who referred them receives 25 cents from his referrals only this way.

Payment
Most GPT websites pay online, usually through payment processors such as Paypal or Egold. A few websites pay by personal check while others offer payment in the form of online gift certificates or give away prizes.
