George S. Flinn, Jr. is an American radiologist, radio station owner, and politician. In 2014 he was a candidate in the Republican primary for the United States Senate election in Tennessee, and continues to stay heavily involved in politics. Finn is passionate about bettering America through his platform Recreating America. Biography Born on July 16, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended the Central and East High School system. Worked his way into the University of Mississippi and came out with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. When he was an electrical engineer, George Flinn researched how radio waves could be used for multiple purposes. He went to the University of Tennessee to obtain his medical degree in radiology in 1969. He helped develop Color Ultrasound Technology, and was one of the first to implement "Teleradiology." He also owns patents in Ultrasound Technology. The President of the United States appointed him to work at the National Institute of Health in Washington, D.C., meanwhile serving as Commander in the U.S. PHS (Public Health Service.) He was one of the first to implement the practice of teleradiology when he returned to Memphis, Tennessee, as to provide diagnosis to patients in the entire US. He has several clinics throughout West Tennessee and Mississippi, as of 2014. Either under the name of "The Flinn Clinic" or "Diagnostic Ultrasounds" He is the owner and CEO of the Flinn Broadcasting Corp with over 40 radio and television stations through the US. Political career In 2002, Flinn ran for mayor of Shelby County, Tennessee. In October 2004 Flinn was elected into the Shelby County Board of Commissioners. He filled an unexpired term of another commissioner and won re-election two years later. After that, Flinn ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010, although he did not win. Flinn was a candidate in the Republican primary for the 2014 United States Senate election in Tennessee. He presented his plan to repeal and replace Obamacare called the Patient Centered Plan. Flinn lost the primary but still remains very active in the political world as he feels strongly about trying to improve the United States for the better. To further his cause, Flinn created a new platform called Recreating America in which he hopes to help Americans stay in control of their freedom.
