Geneva Conventions in Pictures

The Geneva Conventions in Pictures is a project to translate the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their protocols into pictograms, to assist in the education and dissemination of Human Rights law covering armed conflicts. The project seeks to addresses the question: How do we empower civilians to oppose nations that abuse human rights?
The goal of the project is the first step in starting a Human Rights in Pictures movement to overcome language and literacy barriers. By having a visual language for human rights, people can more easily understand their rights, remember them and share a common global language on abuses.
As the Geneva conventions are signed ubiquitously by more than 190 nations, they are were identified as suitable body of human rights law to start the movement. Additionally every country signing the Geneva Conventions have an obligation to educate their civilian populations in the content of the conventions. (Article 47, Geneva Convention I)
Founded in 2015 by Shayne Smart, the project is nominated as for TEDx Amsterdam Awards 2015, taking place on 27th November in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
