Gehan Rateb

Gehan Hassan Rateb () (born January 17, 1969) is an Egyptian actress, singer, and composer.
Early life and education
Gehan Rateb was born 1975 in Cairo, Egypt. Her native Language is Arabic, and she also speaks English fluently and has studied French and Italian. Her father had an Egyptian father and an Italian mother, and died in 1995. Her mother is a housewife but had previously worked in culture and fashion. Rateb has one sister, around three years older than her.
Rateb started playing her first instrument when she was three years old at Maria Oselia Treatchy, the Italian Nuns School, and continued playing and performing music throughout her youth.
Rateb graduated from the English Literature department of the Faculty of Arts of Ain Shams University, and also received an American Diploma in Marketing & Salesmanship from the American University in Cairo. She also had professional training in Forex Trading.
Career
In 1994, Rateb began working as a TV presented at the Arab Radio and Television Network (ART). After one year, she quit and started working in Marketing and Investments. In 1999, she was offered a role as a supporting actress in a low-budget movie, Horoob ma Sabk El-Esrar, which was exclusively broadcast on ART. In 2000, Gehan appeared in her second movie, Alashan Rabena Yehebak, in a lead role. She went on to appear in a series of films, TV series, and theatre productions. In 2006 Gehan released her first music video "", filmed in Times Square, New York City, featuring her as a pole dancer. The video was a hit in the Middle East, and was the subject of significant debate in the press due to its content. She released her second music video "", filmed in Torino, Italy.
Gehan released her first album ' in 2008. "" and "" met with success and were released internationally, leading to several requests from international artists for collaborations. She released her song "Ana Wayak" in collaboration with the German producer Jannes Amadeus in January 2009.
