Gary Kielty

Gary was formerly a child actor who appeared in over thirty television commercials for the UK and abroad. The most notable was an ‘oxo’ advert which was aired between 1978 and 1981. It contained the jingle ‘only oxo does it’ and was covered by 70’s pop band Guys and Dolls and adapted to ‘only loving does it’ reaching number 42 on the British charts.
In 1986 Gary completed a number one UK theatre tour playing the part of ‘Leonard’ in smash hit comedy ‘Wife begins at 40’. Popular British actor Patrick Mower played the part of Gary’s father.
In 1994 he starred in the World Cup Mcdonalds commercial playing the part of ‘Ray mate’, a professional footballer. Gary had previously been a former Fulham F.C and south east county player. This was not the first connection between Mcdonalds and football. Scott Parker the Fulham F.C star had appeared in an earlier commercial for the world cup in an advert with Mcdonalds. The Sun newspaper ran an article at the time about the connection between the two.
