Gary Hertzog, 67 years old, is a high school teacher at Gervais High School in Oregon, United States. He teaches high school and middle school health classes, computer classes, and also a senior survey class every year. He was drafted into the National Football League in 1967 as the first selection in the seventh round. A defensive guard, he played collegiality for Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, before being drafted by the New Orleans Saints. Although he signed with the Saints in May 1967, he played the 1967 season for the Eugene Bombers of the Continental Football League, and he never played for the Saints in the regular season.
