Gary Harron

Gary Arthur Harron is a politician and administrator in Ontario, Canada.
He was raised in Bruce County, Ontario, and received a diploma from the Ontario Agricultural College (later the University of Guelph). After graduation, he worked on his family farm and managed a general store. He became a councillor in Amabel Township in 1969 and served on the council for fourteen years, including twelve as reeve. In 1978, he became warden of Bruce County.
Harron first campaigned for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 1975 provincial election as a candidate of the Progressive Conservative Party, and lost to Liberal incumbent Eddie Sargent by 5,964 votes in Grey—Bruce. He campaigned again in the 1981 election, and lost to Liberal Murray Elston by 224 votes in Huron—Bruce.
Harron was appointed to the Niagara Escarpment Commission upon its creation, and was a member for ten years. He was also appointed to the Ontario Municipal Board in 1982 by the government of Bill Davis, and subsequently served on several environmental commissions.
