Walton Stowell is the name of two American architects, father and son, who also comprised a partnership called Stowell Architects (1994-2009). They both lived at Stowell Galleries in Harpers Ferry. Walton Danforth Stowell (Sr.) I, and Walton Danforth Stowell (Jr.) II; architects of English stock, whose complete name is taken entirely from family last names.
The Stowell Family has lived in Harpers Ferry for over 35 years on “Camp Hill” in the Kaplon House built in 1908. Walton Sr., or “Kip”, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1960 and worked for the National Park Service Design Center. His wife Nena is a Montessori School teacher and has taught art at many different schools. Their son, Walton Jr., got his Masters Degree in 2000. Father and son both have degrees in architecture. Kip Stowell was Mayor of Harpers Ferry for 3 consecutive terms. Walton Jr. has worked on numerous historic documentation projects, with his father and others, in Harpers Ferry.

Walton D. Stowell II, Master Architect
Walton Danforth Stowell II, was born as Walton Danforth Stowell Jr. son of "Kip" and "Nena" Stowell in the Winchester, VA Hospital in 1976. The Stowell's lived in the Town of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; before Walton was born and afterwards (continuing to this day and beyond in 2009). Walton is an artist, architect, landlord, landscaper, civil engineer, gardener, author, editor, and video film-maker. His Masters Degree in Architecture was achieved in 2000, at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). His architectural Thesis was titled "The Sustainable Cooperative for Organic Development" (SCOD), and is an ongoing social and environmental experiment. Having worked for years with the National Park Service and the US Military, Walton prefers the challenges and artistic freedom of self-employment. He continues to make movies, artwork, and books to bridge our history and the future with fact and entertaining fiction.
