G. Steven Farris

G. Steven Farris (born March 1948) is a businessman in the oil and gas industry.
Executive positions
Farris is Chairman (since 2009), Chief Executive Officer (since 2002) and President (1994) at Apache Corporation. At the helm, the company’s stock returns for 2013 were 11 percent. In 2013, his total compensation was $11,228,245.
Once he became President, the firm’s assets grew from lower than $2bn in 1994 to over $28bn today with an increase from 108,000 boe/day of daily production to 560,000 boe/day.
Board memberships
Farris is a member of Business Roundtable, the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors and the Board of Directors of Fund for Teachers.
Employment history
Before joining Apache, Farris was Executive VP of Robert W. Berry, Inc. He was also VP of Finance and Business Development at Terra Resources Inc. Before his current lead roles at Apache Corp., he held a variety of other positions at the firm including: Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President, Vice President of Exploration and Production. He has been with Apache since 1988.
Recognitions
Farris was honored by the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers and the Houston Wildcatters on July 24, 2013. In 2014 he was listed as Number 20 in Houston’s Highest Paid Executives.
Education
Farris has a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Accounting from Oklahoma University.
